Kiyoka Kinoshita, a detective, lost her position at the Prefectural Police Investigation Division after a suspect she was holding in custody committed suicide. This led to her being ostracized from both her job and family. Her new assignment takes her to the National Police Agency's Special Task Force—a newly formed unit made up of misfits and outcasts from other departments. The team’s first investigation takes them to a rural village in Tochigi, where a mysterious series of child disappearances has occurred, with the children seemingly vanishing without a trace—a modern-day "spiriting away." Kinoshita and her team go undercover in the village, seeking to uncover the truth behind these strange events.
